What is KidzArt®?

KidzArt® is a fun, safe, unique and confidence building drawing program for Preschoolers through Seniors.

Our mission at KidzArt® is to provide kids of all ages with the opportunity to have art in their lives, increase their skills and knowledge of various art mediums, learn to draw using a proven method, and most of all, to have fun!  KidzArt® was created to enhance a child's creative self-expression.  How?  By using instructional drawing methods that allow the child to produce original, representational art in the first 1-4 lessons and by doing art projects that are simple, fun and produce great results.  By introducing high quality art materials, their self-confidence is strengthened through their gained sense of artistic confidence and mastery.  Using a simple technique for teaching kids to draw, KidzArt® allows kids to explore, express and be uplifted in a noncompetitive environment.  They are introduced to new products and mediums on a regular basis.  Kids begin to feel like young artistic masters with KidzArt®.

How will Kids Benefit?

KidzArt® is a unique enrichment program of inspiring drawing lessons and art projects for kids and for adults who want to experience or re-experience the joy of art!  Kids who have the opportunity to take a KidzArt® class, will receive instruction from a Certified KidzArt® Instructor, who loves working with kids, and is aligned with the KidzArt® mission.

KidzArt® enhances a child's experience of art.  Kids have a great need to express themselves in many ways -- artistically, emotionally, physically and spiritually.  KidzArt® impacts each and every area of expression.  The KidzArt® classroom is a non-competitive environment enhanced by soft music that allows children to focus and enjoy what they are doing.  Parents see the difference in the quality of art their children bring home.  Kids get immediate results as their enthusiasm for art increases.  KidzArt® impacts their lives by sparking their creative process in other areas as well.  KidzArt® reaches the artistic individual as well as those who never thought they could draw or create works of art!

KidzArt® MAKES A DIFFERENCE!

Why is KidzArt® Unique?

KidzArt® is a carefully developed program for bringing the gift of art to kids and adults.  The KidzArt® program includes inspiring drawing classes and a wide variety of art projects that are complimentary and FUN.  KidzArt® is a compilation of hundreds of drawing programs and techniques.  The results are evident and the benefits last a lifetime!  Here is why...

What we have learned over the years is that some children have the natural, intuitive ability to learn specific subjects such as art and music.  For example, Mozart was a musical genius at age three.  Of course, he was unique.  Other children (and adults), while they may have the desire to learn music and/or art, require direction, guidance and, for the most part, structure.  While art classes taught in an academic environment may provide one element of knowledge in art, many schools are not prepared to provide the much needed drawing instruction or foundation that will support a child or adult in moving into more advanced mediums and areas of artistic endeavor.  These skills can be acquired naturally, while providing students with a joyful experience and the freedom to create.  How does this work?  By providing tools and structure, much the same way as you teach a child music - by giving them step by step instructions. First they learn to read music, then they gradually begin to play music.  By the same token, we don't give a child a book for the first time and ask them to "read" without teaching them the alphabet, phonics and spelling. KidzArt®, by guiding students in how to SEE the visual world around them, will reach those children who never thought they could draw.

When a child reaches the age of seven or eight, they have been taught "art" through the school system, where they receive limited instruction, mostly due to time constraints, overcrowding and lack of proper resources.  Because of this, children often remain frustrated by not being able to draw what they see or having the confidence to do so, students often stop drawing and/or creating art, sometimes for the rest of their lives.  Many adults have experienced this.  Why?  At these ages, we begin to judge and compare ourselves to others.  There is often underlying competition to do "the best" drawing or art project.  As a child, our expectations can be unrealistic and we no longer may think we have the "talent" necessary to consider doing art -- even for pleasure, and we don't feel worthy of continuing art for the simple joy of creating.  This can happen to any child or adult - even to those who are instinctively artistic. KidzArt® promotes drawing in a non-competitive environment. With it's simple drawing technique and art projects, KidzArt® gives kids and adults the experience of, "Yes, I can draw" or "Yes, I'm artistic."  This can be true of virtually everyone!

KidzArt® also uses a language that helps kids understand art in the way that an artist views the world.  The language of components, allows them the ability to simplify what they see and make it fun and easy.  Our art projects are aligned with the drawing program because they are simple, fun and allow kids to feel success in much the same way as our drawing program.  When you combine them, you have the basic elements for an exciting class, workshop, birthday party, camp, etc.!

KidzArt® allows each and every student the opportunity to have a positive artistic experience either in the classroom, at an art fair, on a cruise ship, at a hotel/resort, at a recreation center or in someone's home -- anywhere kids and adults gather.  Adults who think they can't draw, find joy again in the creative process.

When we bring KidzArt® into a child or adult's life, the impact is huge and this creative process and viewpoint impacts every aspect of life.

About KidzArt® of Austin

Rebecca Wustrau, Owner and Certified Instructor, received a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Baylor University and pursued a minor in Math and Art.  She has been working at a local high tech company for several years and has had a successful engineering and management career for over a decade.  But now as a mother of three, Rebecca is reuniting with her lifelong passion of art, focusing on educating children and pursuing a career that will give back to the community.

Throughout her scholastic years, Rebecca developed her artistic talents.  Even as she chose to pursue a career based on her strengths in math and science, Rebecca continued with her art as a means to explore her creative thinking and sharpen her ability to focus and solve problems.  It is this foundation in art that Rebecca attributes many of her personal and career successes.  The key to engineering is problem solving.  Most high tech careers are chaotic at best and require employees to manage ambiguity, maintain diversity, envision the possibilities and achieve goals by solving problems.  Through her engineering management career and her artistic endeavors, Rebecca became more aware of the dramatic need for more creativity-based education for our children to expand their thinking, build their confidence and strengthen their ability to solve problems.  Unfortunately, many of the school systems are moving further away from education in the arts.  KidzArt® has given Rebecca the career she believes in.  It has enabled her to combine her technical background and past experiences with her love of teaching and ability to foster creativity.

Albert Einstein once said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge."  KidzArt® is the perfect guide for creative thinking and opening up those imaginations.
